Over the weekend 16-19 April 2010 members and their wives / girlfriends attended the North Region Airborne Forces reunion in Blackpool.
We shacked up in the Norbeck Castle Hotel, some of the Galls though where found in the GUTTER!! (They know who they are.)
Most of us thought we were going to Blackpool. The Hotel was some 3-5 miles North of Blackpool. Some then only seen Blackpool as we passed through it on our way to the hotel, when they took part on the parade on the Sunday or when we passed back through it on the way home. Some numpty had to be to blame for this bad org (Guess who: Naw!! It wiznae Terry)
For £130 BB you couldn't have wished for a better time. Lots of Old comrades came together at this event to make it a memorable time. The Branch were given priority seating which was a privelige.
We met lads and Lassies from all over, especially Stirling and Fife branches.
The icing on the cake was the banter at the Royal British Legion Club after the parade on the Sunday. Some notable qoutes that had us in stitches:
1. Naw, ye cannie sit there, THATS WHERE THE BLIND DOG SITS
2. Franco, you are on the BELL / Naw am noo, am the TREASURER
3. 15 Para (SV) have won the Auction / bottle wine, best bid of £54. Mr Master of Ceremonies, how much did the wine cost? £3 - Numpty ( Aye, it wiz Terry!!)
4. Give it to the losers (2 Para) - MOS, Ye cannie say that! We will give it to the Runners up?
All in all it was a great time and we are all looking forward to the next event which will be in 2 years time. Not to be missed.
Thanks to Mr Ray Devline for hosting this event and inviting us and thanks to Jim Bishop and Ricky Nugent for compiling photos and a DVD of the event. If anyone who was there would like a copy of any of them or both to look at contact Terry.
A SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL THOSE FROM THE BRANCH AND THEIR WIVES/PARTNERS FOR MAKING THIS SUCH A GREAT WEEKEND!! The Fife Branch under the watch-full eye of Bill Donaldson (Secretary) even mentioned the Branch at the Scottish Regional meeting in Perth on 15/05/10 and how in their opinion our group kept the party going from start to finish, which they were most thank-full of.

Wee Rangers
On Saturday 6th March 2010, after having acted as Marshall's at the Combat Stress race in Glasgow Green I, as the Help for Heroes County Coordinator for Glasgow and Strathkelvin was invited along to the Wee Rangers Club by 2 groups of Rangers supporters clubs from East Belfast to be presented with the Cheques on display for H4H. ( For political reasons I have not mentioned their real names and no photo of us and them - even though you can read who they are on the Cheques!!)
As back up we had from left to right in the photo join me:
Robert Cowan (Welfare)
Jim Bishop ( Photographer)
Bert Stone (Our oldest Veteran)
Terry Mc Court (Secretary / H4H County Coord)
Pat Harkins (Constantly Volunteering)

Central Scotland PRA members Stuart Mathewson and Robert Cowan presented a cheque for £250 donated by Central Scotland PRA along with some gifts on 15th December to Leanne Kelly for her new born baby Neve Mulligan. Leanne's fiancée and Neve's father, Corporal Kevin Mulligan 1 Para SFSG was tragically killed in action in Afghanistan in August 2009. Many branch members attended Kevin's funeral in Alloa in August. Neve, their first child, was born on 20/11/2009 and has made Leanne a very proud mother indeed.

Leanne thanked Central Scotland PRA for their much appreciated kindness, consideration, and generosity in making the donation and will add the money to Neve's savings for her when she is older. Kevin (26) will be sadly missed.
LEST WE FORGET
Xmas Fayre lunch
On Tuesday 22nd December 2009 the Branch again hosted residents from Erskine Hospital and Oakbridge Care Home to a Xmas Fayre lunch in the Lincoln Inn, Knightswood. We also had in attendance The Soldiers, Sailors and Air-force Association - Forces Help and some local residents. Special guests were Catherine O'Neil the manageress of Glasgow Central Station and her bodyguard, KAREN.

As is per norm the members from our branch who attended acted as waiters etc, including our president Bob Steele. Thanks to Michael Mc Grory, Robert Cowan and Ralph Murphy for all their help too. Over 80 sat down to a first class 3 course meal provided by Bob and his crew. We were also well watered by the duty Supervisor Paul and his lovely staff Joanne and Pamella. Special thanks to Allan the manager for being so kind to invite us along once again.
The music was supplied by Ross which included a Kareoke. Ross and Karen from Glasgow Central Station sung a duet to the Pogues song a "Fairytale in New York". We are hedging bets if they will team up for the next Britain's got talent. The Lincoln Inn certainly did have on this day.

Two presentations were made during this function. Our President Bob Steele presented Linda O'Malley from Erskine Hospital with a cheque for £500 kindly donated by the members of our branch. Frank Cameron our Chairman presented Una Smith from SSAFA - F.H. with the same amount from our branch. As you could imagine they both were delighted. It got even better as they both won prizes during the RAFFLE and Erskine won the Top prize of a Microwave Oven ( with a GRILL!!). All proceeds of the Raffle (£196) was donated to Yorkhill Sick Children's Foundation.

We are already looking forward to 2010.
